Skirt Patrol was assigned to our crew in mid-1943 while assigned to Pocatello AFB Idaho. We flew it to Italy via southern route. We went from South America to Dakar then to just outside of Tunis, and finally to our permanent base on the plains of Foggia. Skirt Patrol was flown over all targets: Southern France, Munich, Vienna, Polesti, the Po Valley, etc. until it was declared major battle damaged and used as a hanger queen (spare parts). I was given a new Ford Motor B-24 in which I completed my missions. Later the Patrol was made air worthy and was shot down. Only the enlisted crew survived.   Edward Nelson
